Snowbasin Real Estate is a bit of a misnomer because there are currently no real estate offerings or lodging on site. Although Snowbasin: A Sun Valley Resort's master plan includes plans for a "complete resort package," the building schedule has not yet been established.
Snowbasin, a 2002 Olympic Venue, is clearly the marquis attraction of the Ogden Valley and has been responsible for much of the real estate boom of the past couple of years. With over 3,000 skiable acres combining varied, beautifully groomed trails and vast off-trail acreage, the mountain has something for everyone. Snowbasin is one of the best resorts in North America for the ability ski the mountain from top to bottom in one run. With two high speed gondolas and a high speed quad, you can cover an amazing amount of vertical in a day!
But Snowbasin is not just for winter anymore! On summer weekends the Needles gondola carried people, mountain bikes, and even dogs to the top. From there, they can hike down or just wander around the easy trails at the top before the ride back to the bottom. (And for the brave souls who hike up the mountain, the ride back down is free!) In addition to the spectacular views, it is a fabulous place for wildflowers. Different altitudes provide microclimates which allow you to see mid-summer flowers at the bottom while the early spring bloomers flourish at the top.
Wildlife viewing is also terrific. One of the best places in the valley to see moose in the summer is around gondola tower #13!
No wonder that the most common question real estate agents in Ogden Valley get is "When will Snowbasin start selling real estate?" Although it seems certain to happen sometime, we really don't know when.
In the meantime, the closest condos to Snowbasin are Lakeside Village. Nearby subdivisions include Ski Lake, Summit at Ski Lake, Radford Hill, Hawkins Creek and soon-to-be developed Pineview Estates. |
